About RJP

Ryan Jennings Peterson is the author of the thrilling Jolene Hartley Series. His debut novel, On the Ladder of Humanity, was published in the summer of 2012, followed closely by book two of the Humanity Saga, On the Edge of Greed, in November of the same year. On the Road Through Chaos, the third novel in the saga, was released in July of 2014.

Growing up in the Chicago south suburb of Crete, Illinois, RJP stumbled upon the joy of reading and writing at an early age. His first book he created in grade school: A collection of original Christmas stories and illustrations put to paper and given as a holiday gift to his grandparents. He continued his creations in the form of short stories throughout middle school and into Marian Catholic High School, where he first picked up a guitar, lending a new artistic release in the form of lyrics and original music.

Ryan’s artistic sense catapulted him down a road of imagination and creativity, eventually landing him at Purdue University as a Computer Graphics major. After college, RJP began a career in web development and design, working for several highly reputable companies in the Chicago advertising industry.

While driving down the Dan Ryan Expressway for a visit into Chicago, RJP conjured what would later become the fate of Benjamin Ochoa, one of the victims in his debut novel, On the Ladder of Humanity. Shortly after, while the plot formed, the heroine of his story came into view: a beautiful, hard-headed detective by the name of Jolene Hartley.

Ryan Jennings Peterson currently works as a web developer for an advertising agency in downtown Chicago, though his passion revolves around the creation and evolution of characters and plots that bring his stories to life. He lives in south suburban Chicago with his family.
